Concept will be one of three new model unveilings in Shanghai from the Chinese-owned American manufacturer

American electric car maker Karma has released the first teaser image of the new concept that it's developing with Italian design house Pininfarina.

The as-yet-unnamed luxury model will be revealed at April's Shanghai motor show alongside a second concept named the Vision and a new Karma Revero.

Karma says the second-generation Revero will go on sale later this year.

Pininfarina has also recently styled the 1900bhp Battista electric hypercar for the Automobili Pininarina manufacturer, which is also owned by Mahindra but run as a separate concern.

The deal between Karma and Pininfarina is to “help accelerate future technology and product development”, although full details of the partnership haven't been disclosed. Karma says such partnerships are a key part of its business plan to expand its range.

Chinese-owned Karma was born in 2014 out of the bankruptcy of Fisker Automotive and currently only produces the Revero, a re-engineered version of the Fisker Karma range-extender electric saloon.

Apparently Pininfarina also

Apparently Pininfarina also have a partnership with Perodua. They will release an electric supercar at the end of next year, which is hoped to help the Perodua brand acheive a place in the luxury market.

"This is a perfect partnership," says Perodua boss Datuk Ahmad, "The rich history and culture of both brands will combine to create the worlds greatest supercar"
